WHO IS GABRIELA MOOTZ?
Gabriela Mootz is a dynamic and accomplished vocalist who recently earned her Bachelor of Arts in Music Performance from the University of Portland. She graduated with the university’s Best Vocalist Award and Margaret Vance Award for Outstanding Musicianship and Academics, retaining her spot on the Dean's List for 3 years.
She spent three years as the featured singer for the UP Jazz Ensemble, where she showcased her command of jazz phrasing, improvisation, and expressive nuance. Her musical journey began with clarinet and bass clarinet in her early school years, eventually developing her voice. Early in her high school career she performed with the Seattle Symphony and the sung the National Anthem with her choir at a Seattle Mariners game. She is a fantastic soprano with over eight years of classical vocal training. Gabriela brings exceptional emotional depth and stylistic versatility to every performance.
Throughout her career, Gabriela has been a dedicated member of numerous vocal ensembles, including classical, chamber, and jazz choirs, consistently demonstrating outstanding musicianship and artistry. Inspired by the legendary voices of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, and Nancy Wilson, she is now pursuing a career as a professional performer, aiming to share her voice and passion for jazz and classical music with audiences everywhere.
